When does The Soup Kitchen serve its meals?
Monday to Friday, including holidays, from 8 am to 10 am.
Does The Soup Kitchen only serve those unhoused?
No, we serve anyone who comes through our door.
What kind of soup does The Soup Kitchen serve?
Each meal contains a nutritious, freshly made soup:
- Monday – Goulash
- Tuesday – Spilt pea and ham
- Wednesday – Beef barley
- Thursday – Chicken rice
- Friday – Beef vegetable with pasta
What is included in each meal bag?
Each bag is packed with healthy protein-rich ingredients including hot soup (made fresh every morning), a meat and cheese filled sandwich, yogurt, and a hard-boiled egg. Two fruits, a sweet, bottled water, and hot tea or coffee completes each meal.
Does The Soup Kitchen offer sit in dining or take away?
We currently offer a takeout bagged meal service.
Where does The Soup Kitchen get its funding from?
As a non-profit we rely upon the generous donations from individuals and the business community.
Does The Soup Kitchen have any paid employees?
No, all our members are volunteers.
Does The Soup Kitchen buy all its food?
No. We are lucky to have some fantastic companies that we can count on for donations, such as Cobs Bread Bakery, the Dutch Bakery and Diner, Martha’s Delectables and Save-on-Foods. Other items we purchase through a buying cooperative to keep our costs as low as possible.
Can I get a warm coat or personal care items from The Soup Kitchen?
Occasionally The Soup Kitchen receives donations of clothing and personal care items which we hand out to our diners on a need’s basis.
